Bunny-Free Ears

When Rem was born, I noticed at how updated medicine have become these days. Aside from the newborn screening, she also had hearing screening. The first result of the latter was negative for her left ear and we were advised to be back after a month. I got nervous but I was assured that it normally happens so a second test is given. When the second test was done, the result was okay and it was such a relief. During the first screening, it was also my very first time to have met a Pediatric EENT (doctor for kids’ eyes, ears, nose and throat) and was of course glad about it.

When Rem reached a year older, I was advised by her regular Pediatrician to have her ears cleaned because her earwax was kind of dry. She would say, “Oh, I say rabbits inside!” LOL. I brought her back to her Pedia EENT at the Medical City and we were given eardrops first to keep the wax softer and went back after a week for it to be cleaned-up. This visit cost us P1,600 that time including doctor’s fee and the procedure. Then once a year, I would bring her there to have her ears cleaned. Now that she’s already 5yrs. old, I get to clean it myself already. I bought this very easy-to-use Flashlight Earpick at P70.00 only. Since we should only touch or clean the outer area of the external auditory meatus, this one’s really helpful and cheap. The switch will be turned on to keep it bright inside and since the end is arched it really is easy to keep her ears bunny-free. A great savings I got here, right? SmileThis is such a great buy for every household. This can also be used on adults as long as necessary precautions are observed.

I’m afraid to clean my baby’s ears. Haven’t used a tool like this yet, just cotton buds.

i was actually looking for something similar to what the EENT uses, the stainless thin arched (on the end) thingy, but this was the one available and I am so glad at how easy and safe it is to use because its light helps a lot. i just make sure i clean it with alcohol soaked cotton ball first before cleaning my daughter’s ears. thanks for dropping by sis:)

Great savings! It’s a good thing that Una wants her ears cleaned. Lagi sila sabay ng daddy niya so it’s like a family bonding activity for us. We use a regular ear pick and flashlight, hahaha! Ang mahal ng palinis sa doctor!
